Fantasy & Gothika Art Contest

TO ALL ARTISTS - INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The 2012 Waterloo Festival will feature a curated showcase of art featuring the theme Fantasy & Gothika during the month of November, 2012.

The 12th edition of this Festival, running November 15-18, 2012, promises not only amazing international animated presentations, but also will bring together audience and industry professionals from across the globe.

Have your work showcased amongst the best for a month at the Chrysalids Theatre, the film centre for the Waterloo Festival, during the entire month of November. Artists of selected works will be invited to participate in the opening gala of the exhibit. All selected works will be insured by the Festival while it is at the Festival.

All selected works will also automatically be entered in a juried competition, which includes:

    1st Place: CAD$500
    2nd Place: CAD$200

An Audience Choice Award will also be presented to one work selected by the audience of WFAC 2012.

The winners will be announced at the closing of the Festival on November 18. Prizes must be claimed by December 1, 2012.

Artists are responsible for the pick up/return postage of their work at the end of the exhibit should it be unsold.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

Artists may submit their work for consideration anytime before Midnight, Halloween (October 31st, 2012). Selected artists are responsible for the delivery of their physical work to Chysalids Theatre by November 1, 2012. Please email submissions to Miroki Tong (miroki.tong@gmail.com).

Artists may submit up to three (3) works for consideration. Only one piece will be selected. Art must be 100% original and belong to the artist. All mediums will be considered.

Submissions should include:

  • Artist Name
  • Contact Email/Number
  • Size of Artwork
  • Digital Photo/Image of Artwork
  • Monetary Value of Artwork, for insurance purposes.
  • SELLING YOUR ARTWORK

    All accepted artists may place their works with us to be sold on consignment. The Festival and the Theatre will take responsibility for all processing of any sales. Please note that while the work is insured while it is at the Festival, insurance during transit to and from the Festival is the Artist or the Seller’s responsibility.

    The Theatre will levy a modest fee of 20%, which includes all credit card and other financial processing fees. The fee will be subtracted from the remittance to the artist. There is no handling charge, but the buyer will be responsible for shipping and packaging costs. The Waterloo Festival and the Theatre recommends Federal Express, our official courier. Next day, economy and ground shipment options are available, your work will be safe, and rates are very reasonable.

    Artists are responsible for the pick up/return postage of their work should it be unsold.

    About the Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema

    The Waterloo Festival is an international film festival showcasing the artistry and the power of full-length cinematic animation. Founded in 2001, the Waterloo Festival has premiered numerous films in Canada, and is one of the largest and most comprehensive showcases for feature animation in the world. The upcoming edition of the Festival will be held November 15-18, 2012 in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.
